Nowadays people use it to share their opinions. Some people who want to speak freely. We think that this topic is relevant to our course. The project will be devided into three parts. So, there will be three issues for each member. From the beginning we will use printed-paper to easier count pages. As we know there are have to be five pages written by each member. Then we will post it to our team weblog as was shown in class.
First of all, Aigerim will write about Weblogs at all, about their tools. That with help of blogs you can make many other things and not only just write articles. Weblog is new source of news today but not only journalism uses weblog to write article but it is also a tool of communicating between real people. That is the public opinion of what is happening around the world. Also weblog is used as business opportunity linking to the Technorati's API. There are a lot af capabilities to make money through the weblog and we will tell you how to earn money publishing advertising on the weblogs.

References:
http://blog.lib.umn.edu/blogosphere/weblog_journalism.html
http://www.business-opportunities.biz/projects/how-much-is-your-blog-worth/ http://www.ojr.org/ojr/wiki/make_money/
http://www.elise.com
http://www.technorati.com/

The second is PR. In our group project Ainel is responsible for researching PR. PR is one of the spheres where webloging is used. Her contribution to the project will be a research about impact of blogging on PR. Weblogs are communication phenomena, which receives more and more academic attention. The explosive growth of weblogs during the last few years and the ever increasing list of corporations and agencies using weblogs to communicate challenge traditional ways of communicating. With this project we want to understand the impact of weblogs on PR professionals. In the research we will use search websites such as Google, yahoo and rambler.

References:
http://www.socialtext.net/rss-winterfest/index.cgi?rss_and_weblogs_in_public_relations
http://www.contenu.nu/nublog/archive/1148
http://www.kabarkada.com/archives/56

And at the end Diana will present you is it ethical to use weblog as a tool for PR. She will use some sources that was given in class and not only. Nowadays the role of journalists, bloggers, etc. becoming not clear, boundaries between inside of organization and outside becoming blurring. So it’s difficult to say what is right and what is wrong. So, step-by-step we present you weblogs, little bit about PR, and then made it relevant to journalism, to weblogs.

References:
http://publicsphere.typepad.com/mediations/2004/07/ethics_global_p.html
http://mutually-inclusive.typepad.com/
http://publicsphere.typepad.com/mediations/

New Information Technologies changing journalism

Nowadays, because of Globalization, World is changing and journalism as well.
Internet became most important source of information for every person. As was written on “The Use of the Internet by America’s Newspapers: Web now rivals more traditional media sources, such as print media and television, as a source for daily news”. With help of Internet we can watch movies, read books, download, play games, read hottest news, and buy music, anything! As previous was written on Ainel’s blogger about books, people become afraid are there any future for print media. More and more people read on-line books, so called, e-books, some of them even do not read. “The Internet, a major competitor for print newspapers, gives newspapers a unique opportunity to expand their business”. And it is true; it gives more opportunity for journalists to write more articles. And for local newspapers that may lose their readership, can create their website and so maintain their customers. As you see there you can derive benefits from disadvantages, in other words from negative things make positive.

If we take a look to bloggers, for example journalists from their web newspapers can expand their opinions. Journalists can discuss anything, any issues. “Blogs are an effective way for reporters and newspaper publishers to speak directly to the newspaper’s audience, as they remove media filters and allow reporters to write freely”. As I wrote before in my entry about Media and Politics where Naom Chomsky give us Five filters of Media, here on blogs reporters just freely give us evidence or news without filtering them. So, audience can freely trust what is written, that they always get fresh, unfiltered news. But it is not always like that, there are some writers that do not follow ethics, but here appears question does writer have to follow ethics? Why he needs to stand for ethics code? Dan Gillmor gives us clearly explanation of what is ethics and why do we need follow them in our blogs:
________________________________________________________

“For me, ethics is about something quite simple: honor. Within that word, however, is a great deal of territory. But unless we act with honor we cannot expect people’s trust.

In American journalism, trust is often associated with a standard we call "objectivity" — the idea that an article should offer balance and nuance, giving the reader the chance to make up his or her own mind. I believe objectivity is a worthy but unattainable goal, because we all bring our own biases to everything we do.

In a world of new journalism, where we shift from a lecture to much more of a conversation, ethical journalism depends less on codes of ethics than the values and principles that are a foundation for honorable journalism.
There are pillars of good journalism: thoroughness, accuracy, fairness, transparency and independence.
Dan Gillmor “What ethics should bloggers have?”
________________________________________________________

So, real journalist or at least person who have desire to make his audience trust him have to follow ethics and write accurate.
Let’s see what’s written on a site about on-line journalism. There you could also find explanation of Multi-Media journalism and Digital journalism. Here they are:
- Users can sign up and be regularly emailed stories about their interests;
- Online journalism gives: possibilities in responding to the story;
- After reading, user can email the journalist to tell them what they though of the article;
- Join a chat group to discuss the article or post a comment on a feedback page.

“Online journalism is the place "where television, radio, and the new media forms of the internet collide" (Hall, 2001: 6). This Convergence Within Journalism is likely to change everything journalists think they understand about mass media (DeWolk, 2003: 85)”

What I would like you to tell, is that New Information Technologies, help us communicate with each other, know what happening in another part of the world, share opinions, give advice, on my last class of New Information Techs course I found a better way to search things that you want to find. With help of RSS, you can save your time; via the RSS you can find any online content that you interested in. Such things as blogs connect people around the World; make them speak out. I liked how Jeff Jarvis suggests that conversation helps understand a lot of things. Through conversation with another person it gives us opportunity to look from another angle. And through listening we learn many things. In which New Information Technologies gives us such an opportunity.

Relationships of KIMEP students.

Here I would like to write about students. This article is going to appear next week in KIMEP TIMES newspaper, but YOU will SEE it first on MTV :))) i mean, READ it first on my web-blog :)

So many different people in the world. Brazilian, American, Korean, South African the list goes on and on. They all have different personalities, based partly on their origins. They do not look like each other; they do not act like each other.
So many children are born in one day, the majority of them dissimilar. Despite these different national origins, and the different ways they are raised, they are likely to have one thing in common: Their parents will try to convince them to study hard so they can have a better life. And if they are lucky enough to enter a good university, they have a responsibility to study hard because their parents are paying for their education. But they should also try to reach out to their fellow students, to make them feel more comfortable.

All students at KIMEP have their own world, their own dreams. When it comes to realizing their dreams, there are two distinct camps. Some students spend most of their time reading books in the library, not even looking around because they are so busy with their studies. Others just walk around KIMEP searching for adventure or a romantic encounter.

In fact, some students, it is obvious, come here not to study, but to socialize, to make and meet with friends. To share the latest news and gossip.
You can see it when you listen to guys sitting in the Grill talking about what car is the best or how good Jessica Alba looks on that poster. You can also see it when you notice a girl running at the last minute to print a class paper just before the deadline a paper that should have been ready long before.
Adults, especially middle-aged and older ones, are apt to discuss their own student lives with words such as: “In our time we did not behave like today’s students. What do they mean by that?

Are they decrying the fact that today’s students are more confident, freer, more able to become individuals and share their own opinions?
No. What they really mean, when you ask them to explain, is that universities were friendlier when they were attending. In fact, they say, a university was like a home and all students part of the same big family. It’s not that way now, they suggest. I understand what they are saying.

Sometimes students today are so busy that they are not interested in what is happening outside their circle of friends, let alone in the wider world. Yet their professors and classmates are leaving a mark on their lives, too.
We should be appreciating our friends, of course, but also others around us. And we should not be taking offense easily, or engaging in behavior that increases misunderstanding.
No one is perfect. We shouldn’t be stingy with words like: “I appreciate you. You mean a lot to me. You always can count on me. I will be always here to help you”.
After all, you do not know whether you will see your friend tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. Life can be fleeting. And it can throw some really big surprises at you.

Let someone else know how much he means to you.
I think sometimes that too many KIMEP students are conceited. Even if they might like someone outside their social circle, they might not make the effort to get to know that person until the fourth year of their studies almost too late.
If some students were willing to utter a simple hello to someone they didn’t know, the campus climate could become warmer. We should appreciate every moment at KIMEP, and say nice things, compliments; even to those we don’t know. After all, we all study here.

Some students have complained that they said hi to a student and the next day the guy walked by, acting as if he didn’t recognize them. They wonder what kind of guy he is. Is he unfriendly, or does he think he’s just too busy to acknowledge them?
But even when someone else refuses to acknowledge you, you should continue being friendly to others, going out of your way to make them feel comfortable. That kind of approach will make this campus a better place. And it will make you feel better.

BAIJ1605 New Information Technologies: Journalism

This is weblog of NewInfoTechs course. For media to be “democratic”, it has to fulfill two functions:
“ 1. Media have to report news fairly, completely, and without bias.
2. Function as a watchdog”
But media is not doing well with this functions, and people, “rich” people; owners are trying to sell to the public their ideas, what is in their interests, illusions.

So, media’s job is to train minds? Minds of people, who watch TV, read newspapers, listen to the radio and so forth. People, who own media, try to take profit of it. Guided by profit and by the Government.

Here is a model that called “news filters” consists of five filters that remove all “undesirable elements” on the way to you TV or your mind.

1. Filter: Money
It says that media corporations exist only to make a profit. And only wealthy people can own the media, very wealthy. So in order to open your own newspaper or TV channel you have to have a lot of money and good relations with Government.

2. Filter: Advertising
Advertising is a source of income for owners. Newspapers that do not put advertisements become out of the market.
3. Filter: Reliance on Information provided by “experts”, government and businesses. Not always “experts” know everything, you cannot be sure is it a true fact or not.
4. Filter: Flak. Usually uses by government, who wants to reinforce the media. They can ask FCC to produce documents related to that program and with that threaten them.
5. Filter: Anti communism
To create some another news, like terrorism, create an enemy against which mobilize. So, that’s how people do not have time to ask themselves, where their taxes going, because they think about enemies in the world. So, by this Noam Chomsky tried to explain to us that Media and Politics into separate chapters, but in fact they always goes together.

I hope that article was interesting for you. When I read his articles, I liked it. And find out new things for my self. I think we cannot see him on TV because of his thoughts; of course he wants to be famous and to share his thoughts and theories with everyone. Take a look at links that I posted to this article and have a good day!

On-line journalism

What is journalism? Journalism - is responsibility, freedom, and discipline of collecting, analyzing news and then reporting them. Here we go to hear about on-line journalism. In our course New Information Technologies we learned how to create blogs, our instructor Frederick Emrich in KIMEP university, explained as that we could use it, post our opinions and other many interesting things. As I understood, to create and write not so difficult, you have to create your blog and then post fresh news, or some your own ideas. Usually they help you find useful information, they can easily navigate you, there you can find many related to topics links. But it is not safe to believe to any blog that you read, that is why create web-blog easy, but if you want to be a real journalist, you have to think WHAT you writing, with what purpose and to WHOM? Who will be your audience, and what you wanting them to know from YOU? And when you creating your own blog, always check the facts and use caution.

Right now you reading my entries that I posted, I’m new in posting news, but I like search and find some news, events that are happening around the world. And of course about journalism, here I found a nice site, take a look and may be you will find something new for yourself.

Here, also site which update everyday. So, that’s how you will find fresh news.

So bloggers- online journals posting by group of people or by one person.

In my point of view it's very interesting to learn how to create bloggers, especially for future journalists. And if you don’t know yet how to create blogger, just visit http://www.blogger.com/ that’s how I created mine.

Hope links that I posted will be useful for you,

take care

My best wishes, Diana
